The Art of Documentary Wedding Photography in Arizona

Published March 2017 · Updated April 2026

Arizona Wedding Photography

Arizona offers some of the most dramatic wedding scenery in the country — Sonoran Desert landscapes, mountain backdrops, and golden light that peaks during the cooler months from October through April. Whether you are planning a wedding at a Scottsdale resort, a Phoenix ballroom, or a private estate in Paradise Valley, the key to great photos is timing your ceremony and portraits around the desert light. I photograph weddings across Arizona and am happy to help you think through timing and locations for your day. Browse my portfolio or venue guide for more inspiration.

When I was in college at ASU {GO Devils} for my BFA, I fell completely and utterly in love with candid documentary photography. I used to spend hours reading and studying artist like, Sally Mann, Mary Ellen Mark, Melissa Anne Pinney, Imogen Cunningham and Dorothea Lange. These ladies were masters at capturing moments and evoking a feeling inside of you! I always wanted to be able to do that with my own photography.

When I started shooting weddings twelve years ago I found the absolute perfect subject for me and my heart. I get to combine the love I have for details and beautiful portraiture with capturing moments and evoking a feeling from an image. It is the Perfect industry for me. Every weekend I get to fall in love with other people’s love story and document their day in an artist and creative way. A way that evokes emotion and feeling. I am always so humbled and grateful I get to do what I do.
