El Chorro Paradise Valley Wedding

El Chorro in Paradise Valley

El Chorro sits at the base of Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley, and there is something about the way evening light moves through its gardens that makes every wedding here feel both timeless and deeply personal. The stone walls, the old-growth trees, the courtyard strung with soft light — it all creates an atmosphere that photographs with the kind of warmth you cannot manufacture.

I have photographed weddings at El Chorro for years, and what I love most is how the space holds each couple differently. A morning ceremony in the garden reads completely differently from a candlelit courtyard reception at dusk. The desert always has something to say in the background — sunsets that shift from gold to rose, mountains that change color with the season.

There are places in the Valley that feel untouched by time, and El Chorro is one of them. Nestled at the base of Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley, the historic property has a way of making everything feel both grand and deeply intimate. On a golden March evening, Erin and Evan said their vows on the manicured lawn of this iconic Scottsdale-area venue surrounded by towering trees, climbing bougainvillea, and the people who know them best.

El Chorro has been a landmark in the Arizona desert since 1934, and it remains one of the most sought-after luxury wedding venues in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Tucked at the base of Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley, the property offers a rare combination of old-world charm and natural desert beauty — from the iconic adobe walls and climbing bougainvillea to the sweeping mountain views that make every ceremony feel cinematic. As an El Chorro wedding photographer, I never tire of this venue.

Every detail of this celebration spoke to Erin and Evan’s love of classic elegance with a fresh, garden-inspired twist. Their invitation suite by Celebrations in Paper set the tone beautifully — botanical illustrations, sage green envelopes, and delicate calligraphy that hinted at the lush day ahead. It was the kind of stationery you hold in your hands and just know the wedding is going to be something special.

Erin was an absolute vision. Her classic ballgown paired with a cathedral-length veil caught the light in the most beautiful way as she moved through El Chorro’s gardens. The team at HVH Faces gave her a timeless, radiant look — soft and natural with just enough glow to complement the warm Arizona light. Evan, sharp in his black tuxedo and bow tie, could not take his eyes off her from the moment they shared their first look beneath the olive trees.

A Garden Ceremony Beneath Camelback Mountain

Mint Green Design transformed El Chorro’s already stunning grounds into something truly breathtaking. The ceremony space was framed by lush arrangements of white roses, hydrangeas, and trailing greenery — organic and romantic, as if the flowers had always been there. Guests took their seats on golden chairs along the emerald lawn while the late afternoon sun cast long, warm shadows through the trees.

From the aerial view, the scene was absolutely stunning — rows of guests on the green lawn, the Spanish-style architecture of El Chorro in the background, and Camelback Mountain rising behind it all. It is one of those ceremony settings that reminds you why Paradise Valley weddings are so sought after. There is truly nothing like saying your vows with the Sonoran Desert as your witness.

An Elegant Reception Under the Stars

Revel Wedding Co orchestrated every moment of this day with effortless precision. As the sun began to set behind the mountains, guests moved to the reception lawn where round tables were draped in soft linens and topped with low arrangements of white hydrangeas, garden roses, and flickering candlelight. The sage green accents carried through from the stationery to the table settings, creating a cohesive palette that felt like an extension of El Chorro’s own gardens.

String lights draped overhead as the evening unfolded — toasts that had everyone laughing, a first dance that was all stolen glances and quiet words, and a dance floor that never emptied. The warm glow of the lights against the mountain backdrop created the most magical atmosphere. This is what I love most about El Chorro weddings — the way the property transforms from sun-drenched garden to candlelit paradise as the evening unfolds.
